Arrow of Light is the final badge of rank in Cub Scouting for 5th graders. The Arrow of Light adventures are designed to prepare Cub Scouts to join a Scouts BSA Troop. This page outlines important information and events specific to AOL Scouts and their transition over to a Scouts BSA Troop.

Cub Scout Pack 529 is affiliated with Scouts BSA brother and sister troops which serve youth in 5th through 12th grades: the boys' troop is Troop 854 and the girls' troop is Troop 529. Both Troops meet on Tuesday nights at the same location as our Cub Scout Pack at Neighborhood Alliance Church. Check out their Facebook page for some highlights of their activities.
Before the first AOL/Troop campout, the Troops will host an Open House and representative(s) from the Troop(s) may also briefly visit with the AOL Den during a den or pack meeting to discuss what to expect.

Arrow of Light Scouts (and their parents) can participate and camp at a unit-coordinated campout with a Scouts BSA troop they are eligible to join. They must attend as an Arrow of Light den/patrol under the supervision of two deep leadership from their Arrow of Light den/patrol or pack. All Cub Scout camping requirements still apply, including the Arrow of Light den/patrol must have a BALOO trained adult leader in attendance and all of Scouting’s Youth Protection policies apply. AOL Scouts may participate during the day and/or overnight in one of two ways:
With their Arrow of Light Den/Patrol. Arrow of Light Scouts can attend as an Arrow of Light den/patrol under the supervision of two deep leadership from their Arrow of Light den/patrol or pack. The Arrow of Light Scout’s parent or legal guardian(s) may attend with the Arrow of Light den/patrol and their child, either alongside the two-deep leadership or as part of it if they are registered with the pack. Or
As an Individual Scout. Arrow of Light Scouts can attend with their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) if the local council coordinates two deep leadership per NCAP Standard HS-502.

Weekend Campout BEFORE Crossover

Arrow of Light Cub Scouts who have completed their rank requirements will transition over from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA around February to March of their AOL year. They will "crossover" from Cub Scouts and "cross-in" with their Scouts BSA Troop in two separate ceremonies.

This is the Cub Scout ceremony celebrating the AOL Scouts' accomplishments and their graduation from the Cub Scout program.

This is the Troop ceremony welcoming the newly graduated AOLs as they transition into our brother/sister Scouting America (Scouts BSA) Troops, Troop 854 (boys) or Troop 529 (girls).
